About Katherine Connolly
I am Katherine Connolly, an experienced educator based in Hamilton, Ontario. For years I have worked in classrooms, supported struggling learners as a Resource Teacher, and led a school as principal. Today, I provide personalized online tutoring for children in Kindergarten to Grade 6 and one-on-one English instruction for adults.
I am, first and foremost, a teacher. I created Katherine Teaches so that individualized instruction—the kind that truly meets a learner where they are—could happen in homes across Hamilton, Ontario, and Canada.

Why I Teach
There is a specific moment in teaching that makes everything worthwhile: the "lightbulb" moment. It is the instant when a child who has been tensing their shoulders over a math worksheet suddenly smiles and says, "Oh, wait! I get it now!" Or when an adult learner who was hesitant to speak suddenly shares a story in English with effortless enthusiasm.
Too often in crowded classrooms, there simply isn't time for a teacher to pause and explore five different ways to explain a single concept to one student. That child isn't unable to learn—they just need someone experienced enough to recognize what they need, patient enough to give them time, and skilled enough to reframe the idea.
I created Katherine Teaches to bring the highest caliber of personalized education directly into learners' homes online. Without the rush of a thirty-student classroom, we can move at the learner's true speed, build authentic mastery, and make learning enjoyable again.
